Keith Urban’s “For You” Is For Charity
Keith Urban debuted his brand new single “For You” at the 47th Annual ACM Awards on April 1st to an emotional and energetic standing ovation from the country world. The song was written specifically for Act Of Valor, a movie released in mid-February that features real Navy SEALS alongside actors in a complex CIA plot.
The movie featured a soundtrack full of country stars but “For You” received the grand honor of running during the film’s end credits. Though the song was released originally on the Act Of Valor soundtrack, the specific track was officially released today and Keith is giving back to those men & women who fight daily for American freedom. All artist and publishing royalties received from the sale of “For You” will go direction to the Navy SEAL Foundation, which supports SEAL families and their parents by easing financial burdens, establishing support networks and funding command sponsored activities.
“I felt so privileged and honored to have been given the opportunity to be a part of ‘Act Of Valor’ and to shine a different kind of light on the work that the SEALS do,” said Urban in a release. “I loved the challenge of writing for a film. I’ve never done that before. After seeing ‘Act of Valor.’ my co-writer (Monty Powell) and I wanted to capture the essence of not only what these men and women do so extraordinarily, but how that relates to all of us. ‘Valor’ shows us what they are willing to give their all for, which made me wonder, ‘what am I willing to give my life for?’ ‘For You’ is intended to allow the listener to define who that is for them.”
