According to the latest issue of Country Weekly magazine, Jake Owen says the first time he met the father of his now-fiance Lacey Buchanan, he was informed immediately what the consequences would be if he didn’t treat her right.

“He told me that if she ever came crying to him that I had broken her heart, he would go ahead and hunt me down.” He said he totally understands where her dad was coming from, given that musicians have a certain… reputation… when it comes to relationships.

“I know any father of someone dating a guy like myself has to be a bit leery, but I told him he’s got absolutely nothing to worry about”. Which has proven to be true: there’s apparently been no need for late-night interrogations in the basement, no explanations about what happens if he violates a “Circle Of Trust”, and Jake even asked Lacey’s father for her hand in marriage before he popped the question to her onstage at concert of his recently in Vero Beach, Florida.

Jake does say that he and Lacey are simple people so the wedding will likely be a low-key affair. He tells Country Weekly that, “I have a lot going on this summer with Kenny (Chesney) and Tim (McGraw), and a lot going on this fall. We’re thinking it (the wedding) will be a cool, laid-back sunrise service on the beach” which he estimates won’t last more than 15 minutes. And no gazebos hand-crafted by ex-boyfriends.
