Toby Keith is a lot of things: singer, songwriter, bar owner, tequila connoisseur. But one thing he isn’t anymore, is “Coach.”

For years, Toby coached his son, Steven. But, in a conversation with KNCI’s Pat and Tom show in Sacramento, Toby said he’s put away the clipboard. “I finally gave it up” he says. “I tried to move right up with him…to the 10th grade but all the games prior to high school were all Monday through Thursday. So I could coach like Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and a game on Thursday…” but now, it’s a little more difficult. “Now games are on Friday and they start in late August, so it really made my touring schedule difficult…so I finally said ‘you know what, it’s time to turn him over, let the coaches have him and let me go away, because I coached him for 8 or 9 years.” Now, he can just be dad.
