Maddie & Tae‘s current single “Girl in a Country Song” is the talk of the country genre this summer. And their new video will only help to elevate the song’s popularity.

“Aw naw, Conway and George Strait never did it this way back in the old days,” Maddie & Tae sing in “Girl in a Country Song.”

Their comical new video brings the song to life and paints the picture of how girls are treated in today’s country music by role reversal. Instead of girls in cutoff jeans, three men are shown wearing Daisy Dukes and uncomfortably tight tank tops all while the women name-check songs made popular by the likes of Jason AldeanTyler Farr and Chris Young.

“We used to get a little respect / Now we’re lucky if we even get / To climb up in your truck, keep our mouth shut and ride along / And be the girl in a country song,” they sing.
