Mix Up A Mississippi Mule And Pre-Function Like Randy Houser!

It’s important for a performer to be relaxed before they step onto the stage and various stars relax in various ways; some meditate. Some exercise. And some, like our star of Nashville in the Neighborhood, do it the old fashioned way, with a good stiff drink.

“Usually I have what I call a Mississippi Mule.” Randy Houser told us last year prior to opening for Luke Bryan at the Toyota Amphitheater. “It’s basically a Moscow Mule. You’ll see, I’ll have my cup onstage and I’ll be drinking those things.” Randy tries not to take it too far though. “I’ll have one before the show and maybe one during. They’re pretty stout…you’ll get it figured out pretty quick!”

Randy is on a roll. He was just tapped to play Stagecoach next spring alongside artists like Kenny Chesney and Shania Twain. He’s also working on new music and while some artists might use their previous success to allow experimentation with new music, Randy says he thinks he may have had more freedom early on, when he was trying to find a sound and a style people liked.

“One thing I wanna do is try to keep making music that people wanna hear and not try to get too far out there, you know? At this point, I wanna keep the fans I’ve made after all these years!” However, he quickly added, “..I say all that but then you never know what I might do next.”

One thing Randy said will never change is being a fan of country music.

“That’s the reason I do what I do, is because I had so many people that were ahead of me (who) I was so in love with what they did; and it inspired me to chase my dream.” So, he said, whenever he writes a great song or “when I get a song pitched to me and I hear something brand new..? I become a fan of music all over again.”

You’ll become a fan of Randy if you go to Nashville in the Neighborhood. Tickets are just $25 and still available (2 for 1 til Midnight Monday 11/14)!  You might even become a fan more quickly if you follow this recipe for Randy’s favorite pre-show (and in-show) cocktail, from Absolutdrinks.com
