Dixon’s Jon Pardi is one of country music’s hottest young talents. But he still loves his mama, and especially her enchiladas. Which is why, when we saw we had a guitar autographed by Jon to use as an “incentive item” during our St Jude Radiothon, we thought it might be fun to see if Jon’s mom would be willing to throw in a dish of Jon’s favorite home cookin’. Shelly Harrington, who still lives in Dixon, was totally on board. In fact, she’ll be serving them up next week to the winner, Tracy Clark, at her workplace, Royal Glass in Rancho Cordova.
“I hope they love my enchiladas as much as Jonathan does.” She said.
Um, excuse us…did you just call him Jonathan?
“Of course” she said with a smile you could hear through the phone. “That’s his name!”
Come to find out…while he is still–and will always be–“Jonathan” to her…he’s been just “Jon” to the rest of the world for quite some time.
“His name is Jonathan Ryan Pardi and when he was in 7th or 8th grade he came home on day and told us to call him Jon…he told his teachers to call him Jon…that that’s a man’s name. And from then on, he was Jon.”
Yeah, to everyone but his momma!
So…what makes her enchiladas so great?
“I have no idea!” She laughed. Whatever the reason, Jon swears by ’em and we can’t wait to maybe try a sample next week. To hear the rest of our interview, including what “Jonathan” plans for Christmas, click below!
