Tilikum, SeaWorld’s Famous Killer Whale, Has Died

How sad. Tilikum, who was focal point of CNN’s documentary “Blackfish” has died.

According to CNN, Tilikum died Friday morning among his trainers and veterinarians. SeaWorld released a statement on their website “Tilikum passed away early this morning, January 6, surrounded by the trainers, care staff and veterinarians that provided him around-the-clock world-class care”.

SeaWorld has received backlash since the 2013 documentary “Blackfish” was released, which depicted the water park as being inhumane to Tilikum and other whales. SeaWorld has denied these allegations since its film release.

In March, SeaWorld reported that 35 killer whales may be dying. They announced that they will no longer house whales at their water parks.

We will miss the beautiful creature and are hoping that the rest will recover.
