Thursday morning, January 26th, the National Weather Service issued high surf warnings for the coast of Humboldt County. Breaking waves of 27 feet were expected and so folks were warned, naturally, to stay away from the water.
But some people don’t feel the usual rules apply to them. Like the driver of this Toyota 4×4 (see video below) who ignored the warnings entirely and decided to take a drive onto the Humboldt Bay jetty for a closer look at the storm-tossed sea. It did not end well–he and his passenger had to be rescued by Coast Guard helicopter.
Watch the video and wonder in amazement at the sheer … determination … of this guy as he keeps creeping forward even as the ocean does everything it can to encourage him to turn back.
