We’re blessed to live near some of the best wine regions in the world. Everyone knows Sonoma and Napa. The last several years, Amador and Lodi have come into their own. There are also great wineries in El Dorado and Nevada counties.
But since I’m a Placer County guy, I wanna give a shout out to the Placer Wine Trail…11 wineries in the foothills roughly between Lincoln and Auburn. Ten years ago most were just getting started, and in some cases you would literally be visiting the wine maker in their garage. Now, there are several award-winning, sophisticated wineries, vineyards and fun tasting rooms and to me, there aren’t many better ways to spend a Saturday or Sunday afternoon than visiting a few of them.
If you haven’t been, this would be a great weekend to introduce yourself. The Placer Wine Trail–as promoted by the Placer Vintners Association–is serving up love this Valentine’s weekend along with their usual tasty selections. Most if not all the wineries will be having something special and Valentine’s oriented going on and best of all…there’s no overall ticket or event price. At each location, just the normal tasting tee applies and you can enjoy not just wine but everything from chocolate dipped strawberries to Mediterranean cuisine. For more info, click the official Placer Vintner’s Association website, here. Enjoy responsibly and happy Valentine’s Day weekend!
