In times like this, you always see the best in people. Some 188,000 evacuees remain displaced by the Oroville Dam situation, with no idea when they’ll be allowed to return home, and most certainly faced with unexpected expenses like food and lodging related to that. Thankfully, a few area businesses “get it”, and are helping out.
Yesterday, Las Brasas Tacos and Salsas in Woodland provided dinner to evacuees at the Yolo County fairgrounds, and a place called Mike’s Burger’s in Oroville was feeding workers traveling back and forth from the dam.
Add to that generosity the following:
Taste of Tuscany in Antelope is offering both complimentary meals and 20% discounts to evacuated families. Call in advance: 916-727-7055.
NixTacos in Roseville at Rocky Ridge and Cirby (across from Oakmont High School) is offering a free lunch special for evacuated families from 11-3. Call in advance for details: 916-771-4165, ask for Mike or Jeremy.
And the Raley’s in Grass Valley is serving free hot breakfasts from 7:30 to 10:30 for evacuees at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. 530-272-1958
If YOU know of a restaurant or coffee shop offering specials for evacuees, please let us know. We’d love to spread the word, and help spread the love.
