Pawternity leave? This might just be the best thing I have ever heard! I have adopted three dogs in my adult lifetime, and the first few weeks are quite the adjustment. Having the ability to stay home and get your pup acquainted for a week would be super-mega helpful, so kudos to Beer Dog for stepping up and offering this benefit to their employees!
Beer Dog’s blog, cleverly titled “Dog Days,” explains the decision to implement the amazing new benefit:
Having dogs in our offices makes everyone else more chilled and relaxed – but we know only too well that having a new arrival – whether a mewling pup or unsettled rescue dog – can be stressful for human and hound both. So we are becoming the first in our industry to give our staff a working week’s leave on us to help settle a new furry family member into their home.
Ever since Bracken, the original Brew Dog, first watched James and Martin mash in batch number one of Punk IPA back in 2007 dogs have been central to our way of life. Puppy Parental Leave will support nervy canines and their owners alike in those all-important first few days of the greatest relationship a person can have (children excepted – more on them later).
I just hope the majority of them are adopting their little love buckets rather than buying them. And getting them spayed and neutered. Bob Barker knew what he was talking about, people!
