A few years back Eric Church all but declared war on scalpers and he is nothing if not a man of his word.
Eric has identified and canceled some 25,000 tickets bought up by scalpers for his current Holdin’ My Own tour and will put them back on sale at noon today (Tuesday, February 21) for all cities, including his Golden One Center show on March 30th.
Church has been vocal about scalpers for a couple reasons–his “ordinary” fans often can’t afford the jacked-up ticket price and, because of the sophisticated software used now, scalpers are often able to buy up large blocks of tickets to a show within seconds, preventing fans from even having a fair shot to buy good seats at a normal price on their own.
While this move is great news for fans who want tickets at affordable prices, it could be bad news for some who purchased through a third-party, as those tickets may now be null and void. If you purchased your tickets from a private third-party, you’re probably fine. But if bought them from an online third party broker, you should probably check with the venue to make sure your tickets are still valid.
We tried like crazy to find out what sort of tickets would be put back on sale, since according to the Golden One seating chart for that show, it looks like only upper level tickets are left at this time and it would be pretty neat if some of the seats going back on sale were lower level or floor. But unfortunately we weren’t able to get that information. So, if you’re curious, you want to check out the updated tickets selection (again, starting at noon) for that March 30th show.
