This is pretty great: for the 2nd year in a row, Miranda Lambert is offering a scholarship to young women interested in the music business.
It’s called the “Women Creators Scholarship” and any young woman attending the Belmont University/ Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Business who is interested in songwriting or performing is eligible.
Lambert raised the funds in part with a tune-up show recently at a sold out Chicago club. She told the audience that “to be able to assist young women in a meaningful way means the world to me.”
Last year’s winner was Anna Vaus, a junior with aspirations to be a songwriter.
Applications are now open for the 2017-18 year. Candidates must complete an online application and submit an original song. A committee will review the applications, and a group of finalists will be sent to Lambert review. Award notification will likely happen in late spring. The deadline is March 31st.
