A young singer and cancer survivor that gained some internet fame after performing with Garth Brooks has sadly revealed a new diagnosis.
According to Taste of Country, Danielle El-Jor had been forced to miss auditions for The Voice last November as it conflicted with her first day of chemotherapy. However, Trisha Yearwood, Brooks’ wife and someone that had met El-Jor the previous day, decided that she deserved a chance to show herself to the world and arranged for El-Jor to perform onstage with Brooks.
When the day of the concert finally arrived, El-Jor was able to announce she was cancer free before performing a duet of “I Told You So” with Brooks.
Sadly, she has recently been diagnosed with stage 3 Hodgkin’s lymphoma. However, she is remaining optimistic about the situation, explaining on Facebook:
“I’m trying to stay as positive as I can, and my faith has kept me going this long. Here’s to another journey, another short haircut, and of course, another chance to kick some butt!”
Her treatments will start up again in March, and will be more aggressive than they were in the past. To help her get through the tough battle ahead, a GoFundMe page has been set up to support her.
