If productivity at work is down, it might be because of the re-productivity of certain pregnant giraffe. April the giraffe is a month overdue. She’s a resident of the Animal Adventure Park in Harpursville, NY and since February 23rd, the park has been live streaming from her enclosure, in anticipation of an eventual birth event. And along the way, millions of people from all over the world have checked in to see how it’s going.
For some though, it isn’t that easy. Social media is now full of people who can’t believe how addicted they’ve become to the vigil. Folks are losing sleep, time with family, even slacking off at work as they watch, and watch, and watch….while April just keeps on being an overdue pregnant giraffe. Some have even complained to the Adventure Park front office, suggesting they induce April because they need to get their lives back.
I tuned in for the first time this morning and admit that I have since checked back in several times…you know, just to see how things are going. Truth is, that’s why I’m writing this blog; it’s a way to appear like I’m working while still being able to monitor her progress…which in the last ten minutes has been to move from one side of her enclosure to another, and back again.
Curious? Here’s a link to the live Facebook webcam. But don’t say you haven’t been warned.
