Glen Campbell, known for hits like “Rhinestone Cowboy” and “Southern Nights,” has been struggling with Alzheimer’s disease since 2011. However, it appears that the disease has affected him more than previously known.
According to Billboard, Campbell’s wife has recently revealed the disease has stolen his ability to play guitar. She also explained that while he’s still singing, the words have become gibberish and the melody is unfamiliar to her.
However, she further clarified:
“It’s not a melody that we recognize, but you can tell that it’s a happy song and he has a song in his heart.”
She also revealed that he still breaks out into the occasional air guitar solo, which she finds a little fun.
While we’re sad to hear how badly the disease has affected him, we are glad to know Glen Campbell still has music inside him and we wish him and his wife the best.
