Every sports reporter looks wants a quality source–someone with inside knowledge of a team’s plans. Over the weekend, the broadcast team for the Cleveland Indians may have found theirs in the form of six year old Brody Chernoff. Brody’s dad Mike is the Indian’s General Manager, and when Indians radio announcer Tom Hamilton had Brody come in and hang out in the booth for a little bit, he jokingly asked if the little guy knew what his dad was up to regarding the team.
Little kids are nothing if not honest, and Brody lived up to that, blurting out (in a totally innocent way) that his dad was trying to sign the Indian’s star shortstop Francisco Lindor to a long-term deal. Oops. It’s not really kosher to talk about that, but of course, Brody didn’t know.
There’s been no word yet from MLB as to how or even if they will respond and from now on, we can be sure that any news given up about the team by Brody will be credited to “anonymous sources”.
