Like most songwriters, Maren Morris suffers from a bit of writers block at times. She says her songs are about complicated issues and it’s hard to remain positive in her writing, according to CMT. So how does she get passed that, you ask? Morris says she’ll have a few adult beverages.
Morris says she usually writes her songs while sober, but before she wrote “I Could Use a Love Song” she had some tequila to get the words flowing.
“It allowed us to be straight from the heart, which is hard to do,” she said.
The singer says when she writes a song about love, she tries to remain positive even though she’s single and doesn’t want to come off as cynical.
“A really good love song is that reminder that it’s not unattainable to fall in love again and it’s not cliché, or it’s not going to be like the last time. Sometimes you just have to hear a good love song to remind you it’s still a possibility.”
Drunk or not, her songs are always inspiring. Here is “I Could Use a Love Song.”
