A Study Says Owning A Pet Can Cost Up To $42k

Apparently, owning a pet will cost you. Big time. A recent study revealed 12% of respondents thought the lifetime cost of a pet is $644, while the majority put the cap at $6,445. What’s actually the number?

Depending on the breed, CNBC reports a dog will cost you anywhere between $27,074 and $42,545! A cat is $21,917 to $30,942. You could always downsize to a rabbit for $12,893.

Money aside, 93% of us say our pets make us happier. Do with that info what you will.
