UPDATE: According to Sac Bee, nearly 50 students and staff members at the University of California, Davis, and at K-12 schools in Woodland and West Sacramento are also exhibiting signs of norovirus.
On Thursday afternoon, a virus broke out at three area schools, causing them to close all of the building through the rest of the week. Children at Elverta Elementary School, Alpha Middle School and Alpha Charter School were picked up by parents after 35 students and 5 teaches were found to be sick.
The schools were closed as a precaution and are being thoroughly cleaned over the weekend.
According to KCRA, Norovirus is extremely contagious and symptoms include stomach pain, nausea and diarrhea, and can cause vomiting. Yikes.
