Are they f***ing serious? Cause count me in. I swear a lot for a lady, but now my excuse is I’m trying to lose weight! A recent study says shouting profanity while working out gives you a more effective workout, NY Daily News reports. There were two experiments: a test of anaerobic power on exercise bikes and a handgrip test. Results revealed participants who swore exerted more power on the bikes and more strength in the grip test compared to those who used neutral words.
“A possible reason for this,” a doctor who conducted the study said, “is that (swearing) stimulates the body’s sympathetic nervous system — that’s the system that makes your heart pound when you are in danger.”
Interesting. Whatever you do, don’t try this at a public gym! You’ll more than likely get kicked out. However, if you have a home gym, have at it! And let us know if it worked for you.
