Safety First: Sacramento Fire Asking Residents To Stay Out Of Rivers

We have already had a spike in the heat this month, and that is sure to return before too long. When it gets hot, the rivers get packed, and right now the conditions are causing firefighters some worry.

Firefighter-paramedic John Arroyo told KCRA that “conditions are among the worst he’s seen in the eight years he’s been working on the water.”

The spokesman for the Sacramento Fire Department, Chris Harvey, added to that saying there are a lot of obstacles that can’t be seen above water that can be dangerous.

At this point in May, the water in the rivers is higher than it has been in five years. according to Harvey, “We really don’t think of the Sacramento and the American rivers as being real good options for recreation at this point.”
