So we had a story this morning of a police officer in the small Canadian town of Peel, Quebec. He received a disturbing the peace call and arrived at a home with some 75 teenagers all rocking out to their friend’s metal band. However, nothing illegal was going on, so the officer told the band to turn their amps down a little, and he left. About an hour later though, the officer showed up again and this time, the kids thought they were in trouble for sure. Nope. The officer told them he was off-duty now and asked if he could sit in on drums with the band! He did, and instantly became one of the coolest cops ever.
So, I Googled the story because I wanted to find video of the officer which, as you can see by above…I did.
However, I also found something else: there are a lot of cops who are also drummers. No kidding. Do a YouTube search of “Drums/Cops”, and there are several videos of cops, in uniform, who can keep the beat as well as walk it.
Like this guy
Or, this officer, who also used to be a high school drum corps member
Or this Vancouver officer who steps in at the :55 mark to rattle out some sweet drum rolls
Or (maybe it’s a Canadian thing) this officer in Surrey Canada who gets behind the kit of a reggae band
Or, This. I’m not sure what’s going on in this video…shirtless campers, electric guitars set up in the woods, AND a cop who can slay the fret board and pound the skins…? All I know it’s a whole lotta awesome.
