These Are America’s Most Misspelled Words Per State

America can’t spell some basic words, apparently. As tribute to the Scripps National Spelling Bee, Google tweeted an interactive map of the U.S. breaking down the most searched “how to spell” word per state. For whatever reason, California, Kentucky, Minnesota, New York, and Ohio can’t spell beautiful. Pneumonia trips up people in Alabama, Maine, Michigan, and Washington, which is normal. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious stumps West Virginia and Connecticut, but why? It’s a fake word from Mary Poppins. Rhode Island can’t spell liar, while Wisconsin can’t spell their own state’s name!
