Daleyza Avila Hernandez, a three-year old girl from Stockton, passed away last week during a dental procedure to remove two teeth and cap two others.
Araceli Avila, Daleyza’s mother, told FOX40 that Western Dental referred her to the Children’s Dental Surgery in Stockton where the incident occurred.
Jose Fernandez, Daleyza’s father, said “when we left for the hospital she ran after me, got into the van, and she was very happy.”
David Thompson, the administrator of Children’s Dental Surgery Center told Fox40 that Daleyza had reaction to the anesthesia and was sent to Saint Joseph’s Hospital. Araceli was told that her daughter’s heart stopped during the procedure and that she might have had unknown issues.
However, Araceli insists her daughter was very healthy. No cause has been released yet, but there is a pending investigation.
