Target Gets Rid Of Popular Clothing Lines, Prepares For Reinvention

What?! Target is getting rid of some of its popular clothing lines! Pretty sure every women owns at least 1 Mossimo or Merona item. Well, the retailer is nixing them! As well as Cherokee and Circo, according to Wall Street Journal. The company is attempting to reinvent its already successful clothing department.

“Our brands have been solid performers. Take Cherokee and Circo in our kids’ business, for example—they were performing strongly, even in a difficult market,” said Mark Tritton, Target’s executive vice president and chief merchandising officer. “But we talked to our guests, looked at the data, and we realized that there was this huge opportunity to create a unique personality and own-able, differentiated point of view.”

They’ll introduce 12 new brands and have announced 4 so far –a women’s clothing line called A New Day, a men’s line called Goodfellow & Co, an athleisure line called JoyLab, and a home decor line called Project 62. I’m actually excited for this! I’ve been thinking their brands have been a little blend as of late.
