Puppiessss! Now I know where I’m taking my next vacation. The island of Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos has a shelter that let’s you bring puppies up for adoption to the beach, WTSP reports! The dog rescue charity is called Potcakes and hopes the playdate will help them socialize before finding their forever home. Gah! The founder moved to the beautiful island in 1997 and noticed countless dogs roaming the streets. Not only does she live in paradise, she’s saving furry friends too! Living the dream!

this is a potcake. a potcake is a feral dog from the Caribbean, mainly the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands. like most mutts, they are remarkable animals: healthy, intelligent and loyal. in appearance and in personality they vary, but they share the common quality of completely adapting to their human's lifestyle – they learn your language. I'm not saying "choose this type of dog over other types of dogs"; there are plenty of amazing dogs in shelters right now that are equally deserving of a home. BUT if you travel to the Caribbean, get in touch with the local rescues and carve out some time to spend with these animals (there are cats too!), maybe even take one back with you (it's really easy) – whether to foster or to adopt – you won't regret it, I promise. and if for some reason you do, I will personally fly to wherever you are and take them off your hands, though anyone with a #potcake will tell you the only way you're getting theirs is from their cold dead hands. thanks for reading ❤️🐾 #potcakesofinstagram
