Wearing one pair of contact lens can be uncomfortable for some people, but imagine wearing 27 pairs at once!
Unfortunately, that’s exactly what this 67-year-old English woman was doing, the Washington Post reported.
The woman was getting ready for cataract surgery when doctors discovered the lens stuck together with mucus. Doctors removed seventeen initially, before later finding another ten.
One of the doctors that attended to the woman said:
“It was such a large mass. We were really surprised that the patient didn’t notice it because it would cause quite a lot of irritation while it was sitting there.”
It appears the reason why the issue wasn’t caught earlier was because the woman rarely visited her eye doctor during the 35 years she wore contacts. However, it’s still unclear exactly how long the mass of lens were in her eyes.
