After months of speculation, BBC has cast its 13th Doctor Who for their long-running sci-fi series. For the 1st time in its history, a woman will play the part! Jodie Whittaker will succeed Peter Capaldi, who announced earlier this year he’s leaving the show after four years. Her first appearance will be in this year’s Christmas special.
“I’m beyond excited to begin this epic journey,” the actress said in a statement. “It’s more than an honour to play the Doctor. It means remembering everyone I used to be, while stepping forward to embrace everything the Doctor stands for: hope. I can’t wait.”
