Mariposa County Fire Doubles In Size, Thousands Evacuated [Photos]

A state of emergency was declared yesterday for Mariposa Country as the Detwiler fire continues to grow. As of this morning, the fire had burned over 45,000 acres and is only seven percent contained as of the last reporting.



According to KCRA, the fire began around  4 p.m. on Sunday at Detwiler and Hunters Valley roads.




The California National Guard has been called out to the area to help with disaster response and relief.

The LA Times adds that the fire is dangerously close to cutting off all power at Yosemite National Park.
