Congrats to the Sacramento Zoo…for the first time in 18 years they have baby flamingos.
The five gangly little things hatched between June 18 and July 18 and right now are being hand-raised behind the scenes. Once they’re big enough and strong enough they’ll be introduced to the flock, which currently numbers 36 birds. Here’s video from the Zoo’s Instagram page of one of them. Don’t let the cuteness kill you!
Five American flamingos have hatched over the past month at the #saczoo! This is the oldest one learning to eat solid food in his pool. They are all being hand-reared by veterinary & animal care teams. You can see them daily at 10:30 am at the vet hospital. For details & a longer video visit saczoo.org/blog
