Country music may be rooted in Nashville, but that doesn’t mean Californians don’t make a big impact on the genre!
In fact, there are plenty of country stars that were born right here in the Golden State. Here’s our list of stars you might not know are from California:
The legendary Merle Haggard was born in Bakersfield back in 1937, according to his website.
Lee Greenwood’s website revealed he was born in Los Angeles, and he later moved to Sacramento to finish high school in 1960.
According to his profile on AllMusic, Gary Allan was born in the Southern California city of La Mirada.
Jon Pardi is from the small town of Dixon, right outside of Sacramento, and Billboard reported that he actually grew up listening to KNCI!
Brett Young might not be a country star quite yet, but the country singer is an Anaheim-native.
