Sacramento may soon be the home of a brand new Major League Soccer team!
According to the Sacramento Bee, California’s capital is one of the front-runners for the proposed MLS expansion that, if approved, would add four more teams to the league.
Republic FC, Sacramento’s Minor League Soccer team, has been praised by MLS Commissioner Don Garber for beginning pre-construction work on a new 20,000 stadium should the city be chosen.
Other cities that are being considered for a team include Nashville, Detroit, and Cincinnati.
League owners are expected to vote on the expansion this December, and two expansion cities will be announced that same month if everything gets the okay.
