The solar eclipse is almost here! Monday, August 21st. My birthday! 😉 If you plan on watching, it’ll begin at 9:02 AM and end at 11:39 AM in Sacramento. The maximum eclipse is at 10:17 AM. Whatever you do, don’t forget you CAN’T look directly at it. The sun’s rays can cause temporary or permanent damage to your vision! So what do you do? Wear certified protective glasses. Unfortunately, they’re hard to get your hands on right now. Or they’re kind of expensive. But worth it!
American Paper Optics still has them available in bulk HERE.
Lunt Solar Systems on Amazon is selling 5-packs HERE.
The American Astronomical Society has glasses at various retailers. Their website lists 7-Eleven, Best Buy, Bi-Mart, Casey’s General Store, Circle K, Hobby Town, Kirklands, Kroger, London Drugs, Love’s Travel Shops, Lowe’s, Pilot/Flying J, Toys “R” Us and Walmart. They suggest calling the store beforehand because they’re selling out.
If you don’t have protective glasses, you’re best bet is to look at reflections of it on the ground. Or watch one of the many live streams HERE.
