For some reason I almost cried when I read this story. This seems like a small move, but I bet it had such a big impact on people who a. weren’t expecting it b. have been through so much and c. needed a semblance of “normal life.”
As my friend Jesse put it, “It’s amazing how people can do incredibly generous things in times of need, especially in disasters.”
Pizza Hut manager Shayda Willison said, “When I heard there were families in need, I knew we needed to act fast. I called my husband and asked him to gather up kayaks and meet me at the restaurant,” according to TODAY.
Willison says that she intends to deliver pizzas until her store runs out of supplies. “The people in the houses didn’t expect us to come,” she said. “It was so nice to see their smiles after so much gloom.”
I can only imagine how happy people were, if only for a few minutes, to take in some (hopefully) hot pizza. Good job Shayda and team!
