Thoughts and prayers to Jo Dee Messina. A spokesperson for the country singer revealed the news on her Facebook page that she received the diagnosis earlier this summer. The post does not mention what kind of cancer she’s been diagnosed with and adds that, “We don’t know anything specific regarding the treatment plan at this point, but Jo Dee is working closely with a team to explore all options.” It also notes she will begin treatments shortly.
Messina had several huge hits in the late 90s/early 2000s, including “I’m Alright” and “Heads Carolina, Tails California” and opened for artists like George Strait. On a personal note, we always found Jo Dee to be one of the nicest, most sincere and funny artists, and always looked forward to being able to interview her.
