Starbucks Discreetly Raised Prices This Week

I was so excited for the return of Pumpkin Spice Lattes I didn’t even realize Starbucks raised their prices! A handful of menu items went up as much as 10%! And go figure one of the them is a favorite. The increase affects some sizes of drip coffee and espresso drinks, cookies, and bacon Gouda breakfast sandwiches.

The Consumerist reports mochas and lattes (even the PSL) may soon cost $0.10 to $0.30 more at certain locations, and the bacon Gouda breakfast sandwich (I’m addicted) will now range from $3.45 to $4.95, depending on the store you visit. As if it couldn’t get worse, the Starbucks-brand cookies could see an increase of about $0.30.

“Pricing is continually evaluated on a product-by-product and market-by-market basis in our stores,” Starbucks spokesperson Sanja Gould said. She explained that 10% of US customers could expect their average total spent to increase by about 0.5%. According to Gould, the price increase is necessary ”in order to balance business needs while continuing to provide value to our loyal customers.”

I’m going to end up bankrupt. I already spend enough money at Starbucks! Looks like I need to start making my own coffee and food in the morning. UGH.
