$54K Raised For Hot Dog Vendor After UC Berkeley Police Take His Money

Thanks to a viral video taken and posted by Martin Flores, $54,000 has been raised through a GoFundMe page for an unlicensed hot dog vendor at UC Berkeley. The video shows campus police taking money from the vendor’s, who has requested to be known simply as Beto, wallet.

You can hear Flores protesting the taking of the money in the video, which the officer defends saying that it is procedure.

Vice Chancellor Scott Biddy told NBC 10 , “While I cannot comment on the specifics of this particular case, our practice is to issue warnings before giving a citation. In a case such as this, it is typical to collect any suspected illegal funds and enter them into evidence.”

According to KCRA, $60 was taken from the vendor and booked the money into evidence.
