Filed this under when good intentions go wrong. Kmart plans to offer more plus-size options and will integrate them into the rest of the store, being mindful that nobody likes being stuck in a section near the basement bathroom, Jezebel reports. However, they won’t be called “plus-size.” They’ll be refered to as “Fabulously Sized.” Yeaaaaah…
“When we reached out to our members on social media, they told us we needed to have a better assortment and that we should we call it something different. They absolutely love this whole mantra of ‘Fabulously Sized,” said Kelly Cook, Kmart’s chief marketing officer. “We’re proud to provide this apparel, and we’re also proud about our price points. We have ‘brag-worthy’ denim at $9.97 everyday.”
Don’t get me wrong. I like their reasoning. Maybe the reaction they got was positive, but from what I saw on Twitter, that’s not the case. 1, “Fabulously Sized” is cheesy. 2, Why not call them what they are — clothes? Want to make curvy women feel comfortable? Put their sizes in with the rest of the clothes! Right?
