Which is a bummer, because I am a millenial. Wah wah.
Apartment List, a San Francisco based company that helps people find apartments, recently did a study and gave Sacramento a big fat F for its ability to appeal to the 18-34 demographic. They looked at 75 metropolitan areas and guess where the Capitol City came in?
Numero 71. Not too great. Number one on the list? Pittsburgh, PA. That seems weird.
However, the main factor keeping Sacramento low on the list was “the high cost-of-living, relative to wages” according to the Sacramento Business Journal.
We already knew that rent in the area was insane and that the inventory was low, so I think other things should be considered too. Like proximity to bigger cities and nature, how much food is nearby (because that’s my big one) and nightlife, for people who don’t go to bed by 10 PM.
