Last Thursday Little Big Town was immortalized on the Nashville Walk of Fame. In a brief ceremony, Jimi Westbrook, Kimberly Schlapman, Karen Fairchild and Philip Sweet were inducted by Keith Urban, who said the first time he heard their song Boondocks, it “became part of my psyche” and he knew he had to meet them, and they’ve been friends ever since.
One thing Keith pointed out in his comments is his wonderment at how Little Big Town manages to sound like a “family band” without actually being family (although he does note that Jimi and Karen are married) “..there’s no connection, except the spirit” Keith said, adding, “when I hear Little Big Town, there’s this spirit, and that’s what makes them family”.
So how did the four members of Little Big Town come to sound–and feel–like family? Check out Kimberly’s hilarious explanation at about the 5:24 mark. Or, of course, you can just watch the whole thing, courtesy of Rare Country
