Shell Shock: That Time Our Duck Squeezed Out A Shell-less Egg

Cody’s blog about a chicken egg that had another chicken egg–shell and all–inside of it reminded me of a time last January when our family’s duck, Regina, a one and a half year old Rouen hen, produced a similarly unusual egg.

Only instead of two shells, this one didn’t have any.

Yep. She lays eggs for us pretty regularly (and they’re quite good!) and 99.9% of the time, she nails the design. But this one time, she forgot the shell.

No, we didn’t eat it. It reminded us a little too much of a rubber ball.

But we did get some video of it. Check it out, it’s kinda bizarre.
