Woman Fakes Seizure And Thwarts Would-Be Robbers On The BART

32-year-old Julie Dragland disobeyed her own rule of handing over valuable materials during a robbery this past weekend.  Instead of turning over her phone and wallet during a mugging on the BART in Oakland, she faked a seizure.

Julie was slipped a note by another passenger saying that she had two guns pointed on her and to discreetly pass her belongings over.

“I did not want to give up my stuff, but I had no idea who was behind me,” KCRA reports. Julie said she mouthed to another passenger for help, but he got off the train. Then she said she improvised.

“I slumped sideways and started shaking and crying. I closed my eyes and increased the vigor so people would pay attention.”

Her plan worked, and a couple came over to see if she was okay. The attempted robbers then got off at Civic Center Station.

BART officials are reviewing the security video on the train, hoping to get footage of a suspect.
