On Monday, Randy Travis made his way back to his hometown of Marshville, North Carolina to attend the sign dedication ceremony for a new sign that was made in his honor.
When the town’s greeting sign that for years bore his name was taken down in 2014, fans were not happy, especially considering his stroke in 2013. The stroke left Travis partially paralyzed and he has difficulty speaking and is wheelchair bound.
The town manager at the time stated that Travis’ name was taken down from the sign in order to simplify the busy sign, and said “there was no disrespect to Randy Travis.”
According to Taste of Country, Travis spent a lot of time with fans taking pictures and thanked the crowd for the honor.
