One passenger sums up SMF’s number one ranking pretty well when speaking to KCRA: “It’s easy to get around. They’ve got a great rabbit, it’s simple.”
Okay, I must never actually fly out of SMF because I have never seen this rabbit everyone is speaking of. The art features in the Sacramento International Airport, including the red rabbit, adds to a “feeling of serenity” passengers experience while passing time there.
Additional ranking factors in the J.D. Power list include terminal facilities, airport accessibility, security check, baggage claim, check-in/baggage check, as well as food, beverage and retail amenities.
SMF came in at number one on the medium-sized airports list, with a score of 810 out of 1,000 (which appears to be the highest score of all the airports, but the smaller airports did all have higher scores).
Plus, sometimes there are cookies to eat and dogs to pet.
The survey was taken by 35,000 people and the results indicate that overall satisfaction is up in 2017. Orlando international ranks highest on the mega-airport list and John Wayne Airport is first for large airports.
