Downtown Restaurant Closes Just Months After New Name And Ownership

Well, things aren’t looking to great for Bar Rouse in Sacramento.

The spot in downtown was formerly known as Blackbird Kitchen and Beer Gallery until it was purchased this spring and rebranded for a June opening.

Blackbird originally opened in 2012 and, according to Sac Bee, saw a lot of issues occur over it’ time including money troubles, ownership disputes and flood damage.

Chef and co-owner, Carina Lampkin, left Blackbird in 2016 but bought out the owners earlier this year, saying “Blackbird had so many troubles. … It’s time for its story to change.”

Carina told Sac Bee that “Bar Rouse is a celebration of life. It’s about surviving. ”

Unfortunately, it looks the Sacramento restaurant just couldn’t survive any  longer, according to the Sacramento Business Journal and the eviction notice on the door.
