Sometimes when we get off the air we’ll play a little music in our office because believe it or not, when we’re working, we don’t have that much time to actually listen to most of the songs we play. So today, Pat was cranking an album cut from Eric Paslay’s self-titled 2014 album, which gave us hits like Friday Night and Song About a Girl. But the song Pat had turned up to 11 was the album’s lead cut, a great country rocker that was never released as a single called Keep on Fallin’. And that got us talking about album cuts from other artists that we absolutely love. Here are two from each of us, with a quick comment from us about each.
- The aforementioned Keep On Fallin’ (From Eric Paslay)
“This SHOULDA been a single!”
2. Tim McGraw Mexicoma (from his album Two Lines of Freedom)
“To me it’s just a feel-good, uplifting, done-with-work, looking-forward-to-the-weekend party-on song!”
- Dierks Bentley, Here On Earth (from the album, Riser)
“Dierks wrote this after his dad passed away. Having experienced the loss of my own parents, the writing and more importantly the emotion of his vocal just slays me every time I hear it”
2. Eric Church, Mistress Named Music (from Mr. Misunderstood)
“Whenever I’d be on a run and the up-tempo part of this song would blast through my headphones, my pace usually improved by at least a couple miles per hour”
- Jon Pardi, Cowboy Hat (from California Sunrise)
“It’s just awesome and sexy and fun”
2. Brandy Clark, Get High (from 12 Stories)
“It’s a funny women’s anthem that I’m sure a lot of women can relate to…or would like to relate to”
