This is some scary stuff, especially being so close to home and knowing people who are in the area right now. In two days, El Capitan in Yosemite National Park has seen two rockfalls, the first of which killed one hiker.
A park spokesman said the person injured Thursday has been flown out to a hospital, according to NPR. The person’s condition has not been released.
The National Park Service noted that the Yosemite Valley and park records about 80 rockfalls per year, and that it has been 18 years since the last rockfall-related fatality in Yosemite National Park.
