Matt Vieira worked at KNCI from the late 90s through 2015, doing everything from “street team” promotions to, eventually, Music Director. Matt loved music so much in fact that’s why he left: he had the chance to become a rep and work with artists directly, out on the road.
Which is why Matt was in Las Vegas on Sunday, October 1st. He was there to support his artist Adam Craig, who was one of the many playing the Route 91 Harvest Festival. Adam was done performing and so Matt was hanging out side stage to watch Jason Aldean close out the festival.
Until all hell broke loose.
As you know by now, 58 concert-goers were killed, another 500+ injured when a madman opened fire from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel. The gunfire lasted for 10 minutes.
Matt was one of the lucky ones but at the time, as he and a companion ran from the gunfire, hiding behind everything from cars to porta-potties, he had no idea if he was experiencing his last few moments on earth.
Matt stopped by our studios this morning (Thursday) to share his experience. And while we see Matty often, it was never better to see him that it was today.
