Just over a week has passed since the horrific shooting in Las Vegas that took the lives of 58 concert-goers but already the city has responded.
According to the Las Vegas Sun newspaper, the garden was created in just four days on a barren 1/2 acre piece of land near downtown when a landscape company presented the idea and a rough design sketch to the Las Vegas city council. The next day, work began, with over 500 volunteers planting 58 trees and erecting a Wall of Remembrance. One of the organizers, Jay Pleggenkuhle of Stonerose Landscaping, said there were so many volunteers they were turning people away.
Our own Cody, in Las Vegas for a previously-planned family vacation, visited the site Monday and shared these photos with us.
“It was incredibly somber yet moving” she told us. “Groups of people were coming and going–which was nice to see. It seems many were just taking time from their vacations to come by and pay their respects.”
Cody will be be back on the air with us tomorrow to share more of her experience.
